Initial Training

LEVEL 1 | 6 Weeks Obedience & Manners

Build the essential foundations needed before progressing towards Assistance Dog training.

During this level you will work on:

• Basic obedience and everyday manners
• Engagement and focus on the handler
• Loose-lead walking
• Calm and appropriate behaviour
• Responding reliably to instructions
• Building confidence and communication
• Developing a strong handler and dog partnership

LEVEL 1 | 4 Weeks Intermediate

Build on the skills learned in the 6 Week Program and develop greater consistency, reliability and confidence.

During this level you will work on:

• Improving previously learned obedience skills
• Maintaining focus around distractions
• Greater reliability and responsiveness
• Calm behaviour around people and other dogs
• Increasing handler control and confidence
• Strengthening the dog and handler partnership
• Preparing for progression into the Assistance Dog Training Program
